"Your Body Is a Temple" Explained [Ep 035]

Today, our society places a lot of emphasis on what we look like, or on our outward appearance.  Every day, we turn on the television and we’re inundated with TV shows and commercials that sell us on a new diet or workout program.  They’re accompanied by a message that says, “Follow this diet or this workout program and you’ll be happy and self-confident.  You’ll live a much better life.”  This message is repeated on billboards, magazines, and in our day to day conversations with other people.  Unfortunately, many people (especially young women) struggle with the idea that they must look a certain way in order to be “good enough.” Undoubtedly, the effects of our culture have contributed to an array of eating disorders and an emphasis on physical food over God’s spiritual food.  Thankfully, as believers in Christ, we are “good enough” to possess eternal life by simple faith alone in Christ alone.  And in our post-salvation spiritual lives, we grow by means of God’s grace and truth through the power of God the Holy Spirit.  As we grow, we develop true confidence and security that doesn’t depend on our physical appearance.  Instead, it comes from the spiritual food that we consistently metabolize and apply in our spiritual lives.
