Run Away From Legalism! [Ep 027]

Uncategorized Feb 21, 2019

I’m still piecing together another podcast on marriage, but I felt inspired this week to dive deeper into the problem of legalism.  Legalism is the enemy of grace.  It’s inflicting a lot of suffering on Christians.  And it’s causing people to leave the local church and give up on Christianity completely.  Ironically, so many people in today’s churches that are trying so hard to bring people to their church are actually doing the opposite.   They’re actually turning people away.  Sure, they might convince someone to visit their church for a Sunday, or a few Sundays, or heck even a couple of years.  But, in the long run, legalism wears people down.  Unfortunately, today, many Christians are blind to their own legalism.  They’re blind to their own arrogance.  Yes, legalism is utter arrogance.  Legalism is dependence on self rather than God, legalism is superimposing your rules on top of...

Marriage [Ep 026]

Uncategorized Feb 13, 2019

In this podcast, we’re going to begin talking about marriage.  The topic of marriage may take us a couple of lessons.  Like all of my podcasts, I provide a broad overview of what the Bible says regarding a topic found in Scripture.  For a deeper understand, you’ll need to find a well-qualified pastor teacher.  And, like all of the You Make Me Strong podcasts, the Word of God is the primary and ultimate source for all information.  As I go through what the Bible says about marriage, I’ll probably be tougher on men than women.  God designed men to be the leaders in marriage.  As the leader, the man takes responsibility for the success or failure of his marriage, before God.  Of course, this doesn’t mean that the woman is exempt from responsibility.  But God designed the man to be the leader and initiator.  And He designed the woman to be the follower and responder.

Witnessing [Ep 025]

Uncategorized Feb 06, 2019

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about witnessing.  When performed properly, witnessing is an amazing part of our spiritual lives.  What a tremendous joy knowing that someone has believed in Christ!  That they are eternally saved!  That they are now a child of God and that they are forever apart of the Kingdom of God!  Of course, like all things in the Christian life, there’s a right way and a wrong way to witness.  The right way is God’s way.  God’s way is all about grace.  God’s way is all about truth.  God’s way is all about God doing all of the work.  And God getting all of the credit.  We are merely His willing instruments.

Know Your Enemy [Ep 024]

Uncategorized Jan 26, 2019

In this podcast, I’m going to go in more detail talking about the enemy.  As Christians, we have three enemies: our flesh, the world, and Satan.

The Bible [Ep 023]

Uncategorized Jan 18, 2019

This week, on the You Make Me Strong Podcast, we’re going to talk about The Bible.  As an evangelist, my number one objective is not convincing everyone that The Bible is the Word of God.  Instead, it’s more important to spread the gospel of salvation.  You can be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and not believe that The Bible is the Word of God.  But, as a believer in Christ, you’ll face the consequences.  The only way we mature as Christians is by growing in God’s grace and truth.  Truth isn’t relative.  We all don’t get to decide what truth is and what truth is not.  God has spoken to us.  He has told us that “All Scripture is God breathed.”  It’s what we need for reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness.  It breaks my heart to hear believers in Christ attacking The Word of God.  As if God’s Word doesn’t face enough opposition from...

Giving [Ep 022]

Uncategorized Jan 10, 2019

This week marked the end of college football season.  On Monday, or actually Tuesday morning where I’m at, I enjoyed watching the national championship game.  I’m not an Alabama or Clemson fan, but I always enjoy watching two great teams play against each other.  The final game was a culmination of a year of hard training and practice by kids on both teams.  And I was encouraged to hear that the quarterbacks on both football teams are outspoken believers.  You know, there are a lot of analogies we can make between playing on a football team and the spiritual life.  As we make our way through this podcast on grace giving, I’ll share some of those analogies with you.

Repentance [Ep 021]

Uncategorized Jan 04, 2019

This week I felt compelled to do an entire podcast on one word found in The Bible.  Repentance.  For centuries, Christians have utterly confused the meaning of this one simple word. And, unfortunately, this confusion has led to a lot of unnecessary suffering.  I’ve listened to countless Christian services and messages where the message goes something like this: “You’ve got to repent of your sins.  Stop committing that sin.  Repent, brother.  You’re not really a Christian until you repent.”  And then after throwing the word repent around a few times, that person will usually talk about various types of sexual sins.  For whatever reason, sexual sins are the ones that everyone talks about.  Then, I hear Christians gossiping about other Christians.  They’ll say, “Are you sure so and so is really a Christian?  I mean, look at them.  They can’t be a Christian.  They...

Dispensations [Ep 020]

Uncategorized Dec 28, 2018

I’ve heard one pastor say that there are two doctrines that really help The Bible make sense.  The first doctrine is the Angelic Conflict which helps explain our purpose on this earth.  And the second doctrine is the doctrine of dispensations.  I think this pastor is spot on.  Both doctrines are imperative for understanding the bigger picture of what The Bible is saying.

Prayer [Ep 019]

Uncategorized Dec 20, 2018

Let’s talk about prayer.  Like everything else in the Christian life, prayer is all about grace.  We approach God the Father directly because of the cross.  Because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for all of us.  He is our High Priest.  It’s truly amazing to me, that at anytime, anywhere, we have a direct line to the God of this universe.  What a tremendous weapon prayer can become!  We don’t earn this.  We don’t deserve this.  It’s all grace.  He answers our prayers because of who and what He is, not because of what and what we are.

Spirituality [Ep 018]

Uncategorized Dec 12, 2018

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about spirituality.  First, let me tell you what spirituality is not. Spirituality is NOT how you feel.  And it’s NOT meditating, doing yoga, walking through the woods, climbing a mountain, contemplating the meaning of the universe, philosophizing our existence, thinking positive thoughts, or whatever passes for spirituality these days.  True spirituality is far more powerful than anything man tries to pass off as spirituality.  Spirituality is living by means of God the Holy Spirit.  Everything else is a cheap counterfeit.
