Angelic War [Ep 011]

podcast Sep 26, 2018

Today, I'm talking about angelic war in light of my recent music composition on the angelic conflict. The Angelic Conflict is such an important subject to understand in Scripture.  It helps us understand this fallen world and our purpose in it all.  It explains why God created mankind.

Live Your Life As Unto the Lord [Ep 010]

podcast Sep 19, 2018

There's one thing I hate more than anything and that is unsolicited advice. It's amazing that since I've told people that I'm getting out of the Army, everyone keeps giving me advice to stay in. But the thing is: I can't let people direct me. I have to listen to God. If God is calling us to something specific, we must follow His call.

That's the biggest problem with unsolicited advice or mentorship or guidance. Those well-intentioned individuals will only share what they have done. But God's plan for you is different from God's plan for that other person.

This is also the problem with the self-help space... and that's the lack of God. No human viewpoint can ever take the place of God's plan and His power in your life.  When God tells us to do something, we have faith and we trust in Him. He is all we need. We don't need a specific plan or a specific man-made system. We only need God's system.

Lord of Armies [Ep 009]

podcast Sep 05, 2018

I wrote the song, Lord of Armies, when I was thinking about my looming time overseas for the military. There's a lot of misinformation in the Christian community about war and killing. I'd like to clear up the confusion and also spread some encouragement and peace. You'll be pleasantly surprised by this message, so tune in.

Bible Verses Mentioned:

  • Psalm 46:8-11: “Come and see the works of the Lord, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. ‘Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’  The Lord of Armies is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
  • Psalm 91- “If you make the Most High your dwelling- even the Lord, who is my refuge- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For he will command His angels concerning you to guard...

On Loneliness Part 2 [Ep 008]

podcast Aug 29, 2018

My mind continues to spin thinking about the topic of loneliness.  And I wanted to share some further thoughts with you on this topic.

As I discussed last time, many of us as Christians will find ourselves in lonely situations for two reasons:

  1. Because we take a stand for God’s grace and truth OR
  2. Because God wants us to capitalize on the opportunity to grow closer to Him.

After meditating on this topic from last week, there is a third reason.  There is loneliness in leadership.  When you’re at the top of an organization, responsible for everything that the organization does and fails to do, that burden can make you feel pretty lonely.  Especially if you have to make unpopular decisions in order to do what’s required for the mission and what’s best for everyone that’s collectively involved.

Bible Verses Mentioned:

  • Isaiah 40:6 says, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of...

On Loneliness [Ep 007]

podcast Aug 22, 2018

The subject of this podcast is loneliness.  While my intentions are to transition out of the military soon, I’m currently overseas.  And when you’re overseas, away from your family, loneliness creeps in.  Believe me, it’s pervasive over here.  You’re serving with other Soldiers and civilians who are single, away from their families, and divorced.  Many of us have learned to cope with loneliness.  We know how to persevere.  But we don’t have to merely persevere.  We can all have joy and peace in the midst of loneliness.

Anticipating the loneliness in front of me, I wrote a song called I Will Never Be Alone before going overseas.  Unfortunately, it won’t be on my album that’s coming out this fall.  But it will be on the next album!  That’s right, I’m still writing songs!  God the Holy Spirit continues to inspire me with more music and...

Let's Talk About Faith [Ep 006]

podcast Aug 15, 2018

In this podcast, we’re going to talk about faith.  What is faith?  And why is having faith so hard for so many people?

As I thought about what I’d say for this podcast, I was at a loss for words.  Because faith is so simple!  I thought, how can I spend an entire podcast talking about it?  I mean really, faith is simple!  It’s just believing God’s promises.  That’s it!  In the Bible, you’ll find thousands upon thousands of promises from God.   Believe it or not, but there is a promise for everything.  For every problem you could encounter in this life.  2 Peter 1:4 says, “He has granted us His precious and magnificent promises, in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature.”  God’s written word is so complete that we’ll never find ourselves in a situation where God hasn’t told us what to do.  That’s pretty...

No Guilt, No Shame, No Lookin' Back [Ep 005]

podcast Aug 08, 2018

All sin in our life is rebellion towards God.  In this episode, I’m going to talk about sin.  And one sin in particular - guilt.  My wife, Stefani, is a psychiatrist and she calls guilt the “five letter word.”  She sees guilt’s devastation every day in her patients.   And truly, guilt is destructive.  It keeps us from moving forward with our lives after we make mistakes.  And you know what, guilt is pride.  Guilt is arrogance.  Guilt is like saying, “I know the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, but that wasn’t good enough for me to be forgiven.  I need to do something.  I need to feel sorry for what I’ve done.  I need to make atonement.  I need to agonize and beat myself up for a while to make up for what I’ve done.”  If you do that, you’re still sinning.  Guilt is a sin.  And guilt will tear you apart.

Your Father's Love [Ep 004]

podcast Jul 25, 2018

You know, a lot of Christian songs are centered on the concept of God’s love.  And whether you’re a Christian or not, everyone is always talking about love these days.  Love is probably the most abused word in the English language.  There’s two versions of love: man’s and God’s.  A common mistake people make is they assume God’s love is like their own love.  In this episode, I dive deep into the difference between man's love and God's love.

I also share the story of how my second song, Your Father's Love, came about.

It's a beautiful song and I can't wait to share it with you. You Make Me Strong album to be released September 2018.

Bible Verses mentioned:

  • Galatians 3:26 says that “we are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”  And God shows his love to us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still...

Let's Talk About Truth [Ep 003]

podcast Jul 18, 2018

  • In our last episode, we talked about grace.  Grace is important because not only is it the means of salvation, but 2 Peter 3:18 commands us to grow in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”  And as Christians, it’s imperative to grow. We’re either growing closer to God or shrinking away from Him. We’re either on His side, or we’re working for the enemy. There is no middle ground.  So that’s why we’re talking about grace and knowledge, or truth.
    • Grace is important because not only is it the means of salvation, but 2 Peter 3:18 commands us to grow in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
  • Previously, I explained that grace is all that God is free to do for mankind based upon the cross.  And that God’s grace is freely given and underserved by mankind. He gives, not on the basis of who and what we are, but on the basis of who and what He is!...

Let's Talk About Grace [Ep 002]

podcast Jul 04, 2018

Listen + Subscribe on ITUNES or STITCHER
We’d greatly appreciate a podcast rating and review!

Episode Summary:

  • Every episode of this podcast you’ll hear me say that this show is about truth and grace.  Why truth and grace? 2 Peter 3: 18 states, “But grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To him be the glory both now and forever! Amen.”

  • In this verse, Peter shows us that in order to grow as Christians we need to grow in both grace and knowledge, or truth.  As a Christian, you can’t grow only through grace.  Or only through truth.  You need to grow in both!!  A Christian with all grace and no knowledge will not understand God’s plan and purpose for their life spoken through the Word of God found in the Bible.  Similarly, a Christian with all knowledge and no grace will lack growth because they will become know-it-all Christians lacking the grace, compassion, and...
