No Guilt, No Shame, No Lookin' Back [Ep 005]

podcast Aug 08, 2018

All sin in our life is rebellion towards God.  In this episode, I’m going to talk about sin.  And one sin in particular - guilt.  My wife, Stefani, is a psychiatrist and she calls guilt the “five letter word.”  She sees guilt’s devastation every day in her patients.   And truly, guilt is destructive.  It keeps us from moving forward with our lives after we make mistakes.  And you know what, guilt is pride.  Guilt is arrogance.  Guilt is like saying, “I know the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, but that wasn’t good enough for me to be forgiven.  I need to do something.  I need to feel sorry for what I’ve done.  I need to make atonement.  I need to agonize and beat myself up for a while to make up for what I’ve done.”  If you do that, you’re still sinning.  Guilt is a sin.  And guilt will tear you apart.

Your Father's Love [Ep 004]

podcast Jul 25, 2018

You know, a lot of Christian songs are centered on the concept of God’s love.  And whether you’re a Christian or not, everyone is always talking about love these days.  Love is probably the most abused word in the English language.  There’s two versions of love: man’s and God’s.  A common mistake people make is they assume God’s love is like their own love.  In this episode, I dive deep into the difference between man's love and God's love.

I also share the story of how my second song, Your Father's Love, came about.

It's a beautiful song and I can't wait to share it with you. You Make Me Strong album to be released September 2018.

Bible Verses mentioned:

  • Galatians 3:26 says that “we are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”  And God shows his love to us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still...

Let's Talk About Truth [Ep 003]

podcast Jul 18, 2018

  • In our last episode, we talked about grace.  Grace is important because not only is it the means of salvation, but 2 Peter 3:18 commands us to grow in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”  And as Christians, it’s imperative to grow. We’re either growing closer to God or shrinking away from Him. We’re either on His side, or we’re working for the enemy. There is no middle ground.  So that’s why we’re talking about grace and knowledge, or truth.
    • Grace is important because not only is it the means of salvation, but 2 Peter 3:18 commands us to grow in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
  • Previously, I explained that grace is all that God is free to do for mankind based upon the cross.  And that God’s grace is freely given and underserved by mankind. He gives, not on the basis of who and what we are, but on the basis of who and what He is!...

Episode Summary:

  • Every episode of this podcast you’ll hear me say that this show is about truth and grace.  Why truth and grace? 2 Peter 3: 18 states, “But grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To him be the glory both now and forever! Amen.”

  • In this verse, Peter shows us that in order to grow as Christians we need to grow in both grace and knowledge, or truth.  As a Christian, you can’t grow only through grace.  Or only through truth.  You need to grow in both!!  A Christian with all grace and no knowledge will not understand God’s plan and purpose for their life spoken through the Word of God found in the Bible.  Similarly, a Christian with all knowledge and no grace will lack growth because they will become know-it-all Christians lacking the grace, compassion, and...
